Know a bit more about the intangible heritage of Mumbai namely that of people who have dared to do the unthinkable. Identify individuals who were social movements in themselves and who changed the landscape of their times and the fruits of whose efforts we are enjoying today. The scope of their work is not restricted to any limited area but is spread across almost everywhere we can cast a glance. Know about India’s first practicing woman doctor and people who challenged several unhealthy social practices and played their own role in building modern Indian Society.

As we walk down memory lane, we shall pass by the Karmabhoomi (workplaces) which were associated with the social reformers of 19th and 20thCentury Mumbai who thought beyond their day and age. In this process, one can relate to Mumbai and Maharashtra’s role in the Indian Renaissance. Generally, Indian Social Reform is associated with the great reformers of Bengal like Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Swami Vivekanand and Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar to name a few. As a result, one will get acquainted with some lesser known yet important social revolutionaries of the time.
